The girl is left behind with her mouth wide open as she looks at her father, wondering why he walked away from her. The movie then shows a teenage boy, a few years later, on a flying kite. He catches up with the kite and manages to bring it down to the ground. However, after bringing it down, he lets go of the rope and the kite flies back up into the sky again.The movie then shifts its attention towards an older but still very young man named Chaalbaaz (Aamir Khan), who is being questioned by government officials about some alleged wrongdoing which has taken place in his community.
